Gua Sha

Gua Sha Treatments Serving Wheat Ridge, Arvada, and the Denver Metro

Acupuncture is a traditional form of Chinese medicine that is aimed at balancing out your internal energy flows, known as qi. In order to affect your qi, very small needles can be placed on your body to help release negative tension and open your energy flows. This can help to alleviate pain, positively affect organ function, and even help with reproductive health.

In order to affect your whole-body health in the best way possible, our acupuncturist, Robert Ogarek, combines acupuncture with other Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques including Gua sha.

Gua sha is a form of massage stimulation that allows our acupuncturist to pinpoint areas needing extra attention. It can help to release unhealthy tensions and blood stagnation and encourage healthy energy and blood flow.

Find Out How Gua Sha Can Help You

Gua sha is a technique that utilizes a scraping motion on the skin in order to pinpoint locations that need deeper treatments than acupuncture is able to achieve. By moving the tissues and skin in these areas with the gua sha scraping modality, stagnant and unhealthy blood can be released and replaced with normal metabolic processes and circulation.

Gua Sha involves long, sweeping strokes along an aspect of the body with a small tool which results in small petechiae called sha. The sha generally fade within 2-3 days of your treatment. Many times, patients experience immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chills, cough, nausea and other forms of inflammation. Gua sha can be used for acute and chronic conditions.
